Employer-sponsoredhealth insurance that consumers purchase dont always offer enough protection, even if it is costly, according to a new warning from Consumer Reports. The consumer watchdog said recently that coverage, often labeled junk health insurance, is taking far more from customers than it is giving.
Junk Health Insurance Offers Little Protection
Consumers rarely assume that the health insurance they purchase from their employers could ever be less than stellar. According to a new Consumer Reports warning, however, some workers are offered subpar coverage that does little to financially protect them.
Numerous major insurance companies are offering this type of coverage.

State-rescued Royal Bank of Scotland said Thursday its net losses ballooned to almost £2.0 billion in 2011, hit by the Greek debt crisis, restructuring costs and compensation payments linked to insurance mis-selling.
Losses after tax widened to £1.99 billion (2.35 billion euros, $3.12 billion) from £1.12 billion in 2010, RBS said in a results statement. The group suffered its fourth successive year of steep losses since it was bailed out by the British government at the height of the global financial crisis in 2008.
RBS, 82-per cent owned by the state, said pre-tax losses soared 92 per cent in 2011, while profits at the banks investment division tumbled 54 per cent.

AA warns government of “uninsurable” houses

The AA has responded to a Public Accounts Committee report published today (Tuesday 31 January), warning the government that if they dont act now some houses may become “uninsurable” later this year.
Responding to the Committees report Flood risk management in England, Simon Douglas, director of broker AA Insurance, said, “Flood protection is a national priority, yet many people in flood-prone areas may find their homes difficult to insure from later this year.

Finding affordable health care is difficult for a large majority of individuals currently without health insurance. According to a new analysis, three out of four uninsured Americans live in states that have yet to determine how best to provide its residents with the medical care they need.
