Obama Requires Simplified Health Insurance Benefits Summaries

Health insurance companies will be required to provide consumers with easy-to-understand health benefits summaries, according to final rules issued on Thursday by the Obama administration. The rules dictate that companies will also be required to incorporate a glossary of terms, though an extended section providing an example of how much a patient will pay for breast cancer treatment was removed.

AA warns government of “uninsurable” houses

The AA has responded to a Public Accounts Committee report published today (Tuesday 31 January), warning the government that if they dont act now some houses may become “uninsurable” later this year.
Responding to the Committees report Flood risk management in England, Simon Douglas, director of broker AA Insurance, said, “Flood protection is a national priority, yet many people in flood-prone areas may find their homes difficult to insure from later this year.
“People want the government to take decisive action now, to ensure that their homes are protected.

Affordable Health Care Options Hard to Find in Many States

Finding affordable health care is difficult for a large majority of individuals currently without health insurance. According to a new analysis, three out of four uninsured Americans live in states that have yet to determine how best to provide its residents with the medical care they need.
Affordable Health Care Not Available to 1 in 4 Uninsured
After the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was passed in March 2010, states were given the responsibility of carrying out an immense expansion of health insurance by 2014.
States were required to create their on health insurance exchanges that offer uninsured individuals options that are roughly as affordable as those found with employer-sponsored coverage, as well as come up with other ways to offer affordable health care.

Assicurazioni Generali, RSA Insurance Group and XL Group, Bloomber these are three of several companies who insured Carnival Corp.s wrecked cruise ship off the coast of Italy, according to the news website Bloomberg.
The companies are facing costs of around 405 million Euros (£335 million) from the disaster, with Hannover Re saying they alone will suffer losses in excess of 10 million euros, the website said.
